Global markets turned risk-averse as renewed Middle East tensions undermined hopes for a US–Iran peace deal. Stocks and bonds declined while oil prices surged, with Brent crude rising 3% to around $97 a barrel after US airstrikes on Iranian military targets and new sanctions tied to the Strait of Hormuz.

Global equities continued their record-setting rally, driven by surging technology and semiconductor shares as optimism around artificial intelligence spending accelerated. The MSCI All Country World Index rose for a sixth consecutive session, while MSCI’s Asia benchmark hit a new high, led by South Korea’s Kospi Index, now the world’s best-performing major equity gauge this year.

Stocks pared earlier gains and oil prices rebounded after US strikes on Iranian missile launch sites and vessels reignited concerns about instability in the Middle East. S&P 500 futures still rose 0.6%, though optimism faded compared with Monday’s rally, while Asian equities advanced only modestly.
