Crude oil climbed 1.75% yesterday to $89.37 as traders remained wary about the prospects for a Middle East deal. Brent crude has risen a further 0.91% this morning to $89.72 a barrel, extending its winning streak to six consecutive days—the longest since April.

Brent crude rose 5.17% yesterday and has gained a further 0.3% this morning, marking a fifth consecutive day of gains to $87.98 a barrel. The rally followed new demands from U.S. President Donald Trump toward Iran, clouding prospects for an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The Japanese yen remains under pressure, trading around 158.30 against the U.S. dollar. The yen has been the weakest-performing G10 currency this month as the impact of recent intervention fades, keeping traders alert to the possibility of further official action.
