The aftermath of the NFP number continues. The US economy shows robust employment growth, meaning there won't be a 50 bp rate cut, and the soft-landing narrative might actually unfold. Overnight, Asian stocks advanced, boosted by optimism about the health of the US economy.

EuroStoxx 50 futures rose 0.2%, and those for the S&P 500 gained 0.1% overnight as equities in both Japan and South Korea advanced. The Hang Seng has surged since China announced its stimulus plan in September and now sits around the 22,000 level, although the buying frenzy appears to have waned slightly.

“War, what is it good for?” Absolutely nothing, if you ask the musically minded. In financial markets, however, we tend to think of “safe havens,” and this week the dollar has reigned supreme in the currency market, with only the NOK outperforming due to the oil story.
