Market Commentary: Wednesday 23rd April 2025

Indices and the USD have rallied amid optimism surrounding Trump, Powell, and ongoing global trade negotiations. Gold has retreated from briefly touching $3,500 yesterday and is now sitting around $3,320.

 

 

Indices and the USD have rallied amid optimism surrounding Trump, Powell, and ongoing global trade negotiations.

Gold has retreated from briefly touching $3,500 yesterday and is now sitting around $3,320.

Time will tell whether markets have truly begun to reverse sentiment, as distrust toward policy decisions remains deep.

Regarding China, Trump stated, “We’re going to be very nice and they’re going to be very nice, and we’ll see what happens.”

Crude is up 1.1% to $64.25 a barrel.

Crypto is also higher:

  • Bitcoin rose 2.6% to $93,544.95

  • Ether rose 6.1% to $1,799.83

A better day ahead for data releases, with PMIs for Europe and the US, along with US New Home Sales.
