U.S. equity futures and European indexes dropped as China launched retaliatory trade measures, reviving tensions with Washington. S&P 500 futures fell 0.7% and Nasdaq 100 dropped 1%, while Treasuries rallied and 10-year yields hovered near 4.03%.

A U.S. holiday today for Columbus Day — U.S. equity futures rebounded as President Trump signalled openness to a deal with China, easing fears after last week’s tariff threats. S&P 500 futures rose 1.3% and Nasdaq 100 gained 1.8%, while Treasuries dipped and oil added 1.5%.

Israel’s government has formally approved the first phase of U.S. President Trump’s peace deal, under which Hamas will release remaining hostages in Gaza in exchange for more than 2,000 prisoners.
